Infineon Technologies Expands Footprint in India with New R&D Hub in Ahmedabad

Infineon Technologies, a global leader in power systems and IoT, has reinforced its commitment to India's burgeoning semiconductor ecosystem by launching a new Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This strategic expansion, inaugurated by Infineon CEO Jochen Hanebeck and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendra Patel, signifies a pivotal step in driving innovation and technological advancement within the region.

The state-of-the-art facility, located in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), will focus on advanced research and development in semiconductor chip design, product software, and IT, among other key areas. Over the next five years, Infineon plans to create 500 highly skilled jobs, further solidifying Gujarat's position as an emerging semiconductor hub in India.

This initiative aligns with Infineon's ambitious target of achieving €1 billion in annual revenues from its India operations by 2030, underscoring the company's confidence in India's market potential. The new GCC will complement Infineon's existing R&D capabilities, enhancing its ability to deliver world-class semiconductor solutions for automotive, industrial applications, green energy, and IoT sectors. The launch of the Ahmedabad GCC is a testament to the collaborative efforts between Infineon and the Government of Gujarat, which has recently introduced a dedicated GCC policy to attract high-value investments and create employment opportunities. This partnership highlights the collective vision to position India as a global leader in semiconductor innovation.
